A little of Sicily,
sent north
Ceramics, linen and table things from workshops along the coast. Bought in small quantities, carried home slowly, and priced so they can actually be used.
Free delivery
On every order over ninety dollars, wrapped in paper and straw.
Forty-five days
Live with a piece through a season before deciding on it.
Hand painted
Every glaze laid by hand, so no two pieces are quite alike.
Named workshops
We list who made it and where. If we cannot say, we do not carry it.
The house favourites
The pieces that leave the shelves fastest, and come back into stock the least often.

Three streets along
Every part of the row keeps its own trade. Here is what sits behind each door.
La Ceramica
Hand-painted maiolica, serving plates and jugs glazed in the old colours.
La Tavola
Washed linen cloths, heavy glassware and olive wood for the table.
La Strada
Baskets, straw hats and the woven things carried out into the afternoon.
Newly arrived
Added this month in small quantities, most of which will not be repeated.
Bought by hand,
never by container
We buy a few dozen pieces at a time from workshops we visit in person. Things sell out and return a little different, which is the honest cost of buying this way.
See the collectionNo two quite alike
Every glaze is laid by hand, so colour and thickness shift a little from piece to piece. That is the point of it.
One warm palette
Cocoa, rust and olive throughout. Everything sits with everything else.
Small runs
Bought in dozens.
Packed in straw
No plastic in the box.
From the neighbours
The plates arrived wrapped in actual straw and every one is slightly different. They have been out on the table every day since.
Two years of dinners and the glaze has not chipped once. I have since bought the jug and the small bowls as well.
They name the workshop on every listing. It is a small thing that made me trust the whole shop immediately.
Named workshops
Every listing carries the maker and the town. If we cannot name it, we do not stock it.
Hand glazed
Painted and fired by hand, which is why the colours shift a little between pieces.
Packed in straw
Paper, card and straw wadding. Nothing plastic travels in the box.
Forty-five days
A prepaid label and no questionnaire about why it did not suit.
Letters from the row
New arrivals, restock notes and the occasional word from a workshop. Twice a month, never more often.
